This playset is inspired by Blanca Gomez's illustration and the colorful world she creates with pencils and collages.
About "pretend" play and its importance
Pretend play or make-believe play is playing out situations that involve multiple perspectives and playful manipulations of ideas and feelings.
It takes place between 2.5 and 6 or 7 years, and according to Sarah Russ (2004) it involves imagination, make-believe, symbolism, organizational divergent thinking (the ability to come up with many different ideas, story themes & symbols).
According to Scott Barry Kaufman, pretend play offers cognitive benefits such as an increase in language use and allows the expression of both positive and negative emotions and the modulation of affect, the ability to integrate emotion with cognition.
